What's next for U.S. 93 in 2008?

From Mike Kondelis, PE
District Engineer

The success of the U.S. 93 Corridor project is based on the solid teamwork and coordination of the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), local officials, and dedicated project teams. In 2008, our team will focus on:

  • Acceleration of design and construction of U.S. 93 North from milepost (MP) 2 to 17. The goal is to have this section complete by the opening of the Hoover Dam Bypass in late 2010.
  • Completion of two construction projects and design of four additional widening projects on U.S. 93 between Interstate 40 (I-40) and Wikieup, MP 91.2 to 124.6.
  • Celebrating the complete reconstruction of roadway from Wikieup to the Santa Maria river, MP 124.6 to MP 161.5.

Literally hundreds of people have worked and are working on this critical project – together we will create an improved highway for the traveling public with minimal impacts to the unique environment that is indigenous to the northwestern part of the state.
