Safety Assistance on the Corridor

Motorist Assist Patrol

Burro CreekThe Motorist Assist Patrol (MAP) program has been successfully aiding distressed motorists traveling through the construction areas on US 93 corridor for 3 1/2 years. The MAP is responsible for assisting motorists traveling through the construction area on US 93 when the contractor is not working. This program is being closely monitored by the Arizona Antelope WashDepartment of Transportation in cooperation with the Department of Public Safety to determine its effectiveness and usefulness. The responses received so far are largely supportive of the endeavor and appreciative of the assistance. Aiding distressed motorists benefits all those who travel US 93 South by keeping traffic running smoothly and safely. With the support of the Federal Highway Administration, ADOT has been able to incorporate this public service into the US 93 construction contracts.

Call Boxes

Call BoxBecause of its rural nature, when there's an accident on US 93 every minute counts. Thanks to help from the Kingman Hospital, ADOT was able to obtain a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant in the fall of 2002. This grant funded the installation of four call boxes on the 93 Corridor. Motorists are now able to report problems more quickly by using the call box phones and contacting the Arizona Department of Public Safety dispatch center directly. Call boxes can be found between Wickenburg and Wikieup at the following locations:

• Milepost 172 near roadside table
• Milepost 161 at the Santa Maria River
• Milepost148 at Nothing, AZ
• Milepost 132 at the Signal Road intersection
