Whether it involved wildlife, minerals, plants, weather, logistics or materials, each of US 93’s unique projects present distinct challenges. The result? Intense project team partnering and innovations, such as special blasting techniques and boulder placement, a lane rental policy, a Motorist Assist Program, special tortoise fencing and crossings, new approaches to plant salvaging and replanting, and using materials like high-strength weathered steel. The focus was on improving the traveling public’s experience on the US 93 Corridor.
Skillful partnering and tight teamwork is always core to project success. Scores of individuals from the Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, National Park Services, Department of Public Safety and Arizona Game and Fish, plus designers, contractors, sub-contractors and project teams, hone their partnership skills – open, honest and timely communication helps to meet the goals on all projects. Without the skills and talents of the above agencies the US 93 Corridor would not be what it is today.
